Age of Accountability
- The age at which children can be held accountable for their sins, that being eight years old.
Members of the LDS church believe that children cannot be held accountable for any sins they commit before they are eight years old. Also, since original sin was made whole through Christ's Atonement, it is not requisite that children be baptized before they are eight; at which point they are given the choice of whether or not to join the religion, baptized, and given the gift of the Holy Ghost.
